Rapper 50 Cent just fired a few verbal shots at his former best friend and business partner Floyd Mayweather Jr. 50 accused Floyd of "ducking" Manny Pacquiao. However, it's for the reasons that many anti-Mayweather critics think. According to a March 1st, 2013 report by HipHopDX.com, 50 Cent appeared on ESPN's popular morning show First Take, and made the following comments about Floyd ducking Manny:
"[Mayweather] did duck the fight [with Pacquiao], that's $100 million and you just left it. I mean, for two reasons – I think he concentrates on how much someone else is getting paid as opposed to how much he's getting paid. He's not afraid of [Pacquiao] or any fighter. I just think its more of him saying, 'Who do I have to fight?"
50 cent would go on to describe Mayweather as being someone who's more focused on his money compared to his opponent's money, and which fights will continue his run to boxing immortality. Floyd is more interested in the perfect opponent, not the toughest opponent.
I think it's clear that this man is driven by money. However, 50 Cent was quick to point out that Floyd did not duck Manny Pacquiao because he was scared of him like many critics believe. Whatever the reason, Floyd's detractors constantly point out his "ducking reputation" as being a huge detriment to his place in boxing history.
As for Pacquiao, his last fight against Marquez really silences any reason for the boxing world to continue to talk about these two in a potential bout. Whether Floyd ducked Manny or not, it really doesn't matter anymore.
These comments by 50 Cent remind me of what someone would say after a bad breakup or divorce. The really are pointless and about 3 years too late.
