The accident occurred when a bus, loaded with passengers, veered from the Manila Skyway which is an elevated highway. The bus hit a van, and the driver of the van was killed on impact according to the report, while the bus driver – Carmelo Calascas - is still in critical condition in a hospital located in Paranaque. He will be given drug and alcohol testing.

Though the roads were wet and slippery at the time of the accident, it is not known exactly why the accident occurred.

The bus was operated by the Don Mariano Bus Company which has taken all of their busses off the road until an inspection of the accident has been completed.

Police are doing an investigation to see whether the bus driver was at fault or the bus had problems.
