To continue and expand on the topic in the last article written about Greek superstition (as detailed for entertainment at Zorba’s restaurant in Sault St. Marie, Michigan), today let’s focus on luck. What ritual do you do or object do you carry to manifest good luck in your life?
You might carry a lucky coin or rabbit’s foot (not so lucky for the rabbit) or maybe you carry something from a loved one, whatever you have encourages a positive mindset, which is really most of the battle.
According to the paperwork at Zorba’s, the below information is offered about the Greek and their beliefs on the topic of luck:
“Use the same door when entering and leaving someone’s home. To not do so invites bad luck on an impending matter such as a marriage proposal or business deal.”
Another Greek superstition is to put a coin of precious metal in a new house, new car or in a safe place around the crib (inaccessible to the newborn baby) to bring good fortune.
These types of myths/beliefs get passed down by generation to generation (in all cultures) and each might add a new spin to the ritual. It really amounts to mind over matter, if you truly believe, it is probably your positive mindset can overcome even the most trying circumstances and turn the event to your favor.
Have fun with these superstitions, test them out, and comment with your outcome. The whole point of this article is to entertain and help you work to remain positive! Good luck!
