Manhunt for cop killing bank robber may be over with suspect killed by police

The nationwide manhunt for a cop killing bank robber “may have ended” after a suspect was shot to death by police on Dec. 28 in Phoenix, Ariz.

The suspect tried robbing a bank in Phoenix on Saturday, according to CNN.

The still unidentified bank robber was exiting the bank carrying a gun and a bag on Saturday morning. Police were on the scene as shots were exchanged between two officers and the bank robber.

Both police officers were spared any injuries; but the bank robber was killed in the exchange.

Officials believe that the bank robber that died yesterday is the same man who initiated a crime spree that began in Atlanta last Monday, when a suspect robbed an ATM customer after unsuccessfully attempting to rob the bank.

Hours later, authorities believe, the same man robbed a bank about 300 miles away in Tupelo, Mississippi. That robbery escalated to a gunfight with police and the shooting of two officers.

Of those two officers, one Tupelo police officer died, marking what Police Chief Bart Aguirre said may be the first cop killing in his department's history.

Another officer was also shot by the suspect last Monday, and is recovering in the hospital from his gunshot wounds.

On Dec. 27, the FBI posted surveillance photographs of the suspect and offered a reward of up to $100,000 for information leading to the identification and arrest of the cop killing bank robber.
