Manhattan's Tour de France is Hosting Tasty Tapas Tuesdays

Every Tuesday starting in January and throughout the winter season, Tour de France's Manhattan restaurants will be hosting Tapas Tuesdays. Tapas consist of small plates, appetizers and snacks which originated amongst Spanish cuisine. I find myself always suggesting to my significant other if we can "go for tapas tonight!" I love ordering a variety of plates and being able to try a bunch of different textures and savory spices. In addition to the regular menu, each neighborhood Tour de France restaurant will feature a dozen different tapas priced from $6 to $8, all of which are ideal to share. The dishes featured on the exclusive tapas menu will be original recipes that are not available on their everyday menus. Also, each restaurant will be serving delicious sangria, served by the glass or pitcher.

Visit the French Roast Downtown (11th Street at 6th Avenue) for a taste of their patatas bravas, which consist of Idaho potatoes, lemon aioli and habanero sauce. Or try their tortilla Espanola, a classic potato-egg omelet with roasted pepper sauce, chorizo a la cerveza chorizo sausage, dark beer, tomato sauce and herbs. If you love fish taste the octopus carpaccio, thinly sliced octopus in kalamata olive sauce.

The limited-time tapas menu at French Roast Uptown (2340 Broadway) includes cheese quesadillas with Manchego cheese and red grapes, braised short ribs, bay scallop ceviche, and jicama salad with serrano ham. The coastal flavors of Brittany at Maison (1700 Broadway at 53rd Street) will be on display with a selection of tapas including shrimp and chorizo with herbed goat cheese on a French baguette, escargot à l’ail with creamy potato, lobster and tarragon bouchées with saffron sauce and scallions, and braised octopus with butternut squash coulis and balsamic fig glaze.

Chef Regis from Le Monde (1885 Broadway between 112th and 113th Streets) features his grilled merguez, cod fish croquettes, mussels a diablo, sherry braised short ribs and chicken livers with poblano peppers and balsamic. I will be visiting Le Monde soon with a full review of their tapas menu! So come explore these wonderful eateries and see what tapas are all about. Perfect for a lunch time outing or a light dinner.
