A Manhattan man was arrested early Tuesday on drunken driving charges after he allegedly failing to yield to other motorists and was pulled over for the traffic infraction, Southampton Town Police said in a news release.
Jean Marc P. Choffel, 41, will be arraigned Aug. 20 at Southampton Town Justice Court in Hampton Bays on a misdemeanor driving while intoxicated charge and a traffic violation.
Police stopped Choffel at 1:25 a.m. on Tuesday after he allegedly failed to yield the right of way to other cars in the traffic circle on County Road 94 in the Hamlet of Flanders. When he was pulled over, officers determined that he was intoxicated behind the wheel, a police news release said.
Choffel was arrested at the scene and then taken to Southampton Town police headquarters for processing. As of Tuesday morning, he was being held in police custody and waiting for arraignment.
