Actress Mandy Moore is leaving ABC-TV’s comedy pilot “Pulling,” the Web site Deadline.com reported Saturday.
The pilot is about three “dysfunctional” women in their 30s. More was supposed to play one of the women, Louise. Moore’s character was optimistic and on a desperate search to get a husband. Before her exit was announced, Moore was the first major actor cast in the pilot.
“Pulling” is based on a 2006 British TV series. June Diane Raphael was cast as the lead character. Later, supporting actors were added.
TVGuide.com also confirmed the story of Mandy Moore’s departure from the series. “The project, from Bad Teacher producers Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, is about three dysfunctional women in their 30s who live life the way they want, even if society tells them they should have it all figured out by now,” TV Guide reported.
Deadline reports, “Word is those castings changed the dynamic, and Moore’s character evolved, leading to Moore’s exit. ‘Mandy is a pro, and has been very patient and accommodating with us,’ Pulling producers said.”
“As we moved closer to production, it was clear we needed to go in a different direction for the character, and Mandy agreed to do what was best for the show. She’s an immensely gifted actress and we hope to have the pleasure of working with her again.”
