Mandisa and ABC are getting pretty chummy these days. Reportedly a favorite or host Robin Roberts, Mandisa made her first appearance on Good Morning America last year where she sang “Stronger” to welcome back host Robin Roberts. She also sang “Good Morning” with TobyMac. She was asked back last week to sing again and promote her new album, “Overcomer,” which was released last week as well. Now, it has been reported that morning show will premiere Mandisa’s “Overcomer” video during tomorrow morning’s broadcast (Thursday, September 5).
The touching video features appearances with former U.S. Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, Captain Mark Kelly, Gold Medalist Scott Hamilton and one other “special guest” who will be announced on GMA. Each was hand-picked by Mandisa and the director, Eric Welch.
"We chose each of them because when we thought of who has been an example of an overcomer in a very public battle, it is hard to imagine anyone more appropriate than the amazing people in my video,” says Mandisa. “They have all fought, and continue to fight victoriously. I pray that sharing their inspirational stories throughout the video will leave people saying, 'If they can do it, so can I!'”
In return, Gabby Giffords had this to say about the song: "I was really inspired by Mandisa's song 'Overcomer' because its message is one of hope, perseverance and faith. We can't always control what happens to us in life, but we can control how we respond. Like the song says, if we keep positive and 'stay in the fight till the final round,' we can overcome more than we ever dreamed possible." Giffords is co-founder of the gun violence prevention organization Americans for Responsible Solutions.
There’s more reasons to celebrate as well. The three-time GRAMMY® nominee is basking in the success of the new song making her No. 1 entry onto the Billboard Christian chart as well as No. 29 on the Billboard 200. In addition, Mandisa will be taking part of the “Night of Joy” event at Disney’s Magic Kingdom in Orlando, FL this weekend and later this fall, she will again join TobyMac for his “Hits Deep Tour.” Joining Mandisa on the tour, which kicks off November 7, are Brandon Heath, Jamie Grace, Colton Dixon, Chris August and Capital Kings. Should be an excellent show.
