'Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom’ premieres in London hours before Mandela’s death

Nelson Mandela’s death on Thursday has people around the world in sorrow. The news of Mandela's death moved quickly on social media and have people paying tribute to the South African man who changed the world. However, at the premiere of the Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom the movie goers were told as the final credits of the film were rolling that Nelson Mandela had died. In what is what some would call a coincidence, the announcement had many at the event shocked.

Duchess Kate and Prince William were among the guests of the Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom premiere and fans from around the world were interested in the buzz created by the premiere as the story is based off the life of Nelson Mandela. According to people who were at the premiere, the guests watching the film gave the movie a standing ovation.

“Just attended the royal film premiere of MANDELA - LONG WALK TO FREEDOM and just heard that Madiba died at 9.30pm while we watched his story,” tweeted actor Richard E. Grant who attended the premiere.

Mandela died at age 95 in his Johannesburg home after a long decline in health. The sad news has people around the world talking about a man who changed history.
