If you are among those who are still looking for enrichment options in the summer, acquiring skills in a new language may be well worth your consideration. Sage Academics is offering Mandarin Chinese classes for beginners who are interested in exploring this language. The linguistically inclined can look forward to learning the fundamentals of the Mandarin Chinese language from a native speaker. A qualified instructor will offer lessons every Tuesday for six weeks, beginning July 15 and continuing till Aug. 19. Classes will be available for adults as well as elementary school students from grades 2 to 6. The Mandarin Chinese language sessions will be held at the Waltham Chamber of Commerce at 84 South Street in Waltham, Mass.

“Students can expect to acquire basic skills including the common expressions, greetings and vocabulary used in the language,” says Sheila O’Neill, the program coordinator at Sage Academics. “The instructor will focus on helping students develop their international communication skills, something that's fast becoming a requirement in this global economy,” she adds. Each student will also receive a certificate at the end of the Mandarin Chinese language classes. Classes for elementary students from grade 2 to grade 6 will meet from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Classes for adults will follow from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
