Downtown Daphne will ring again this New Year’s Eve with the sounds of frivolity and flounder flopping. Manci’s Antique Club on Main Street and Belrose Avenue, will host the Third Annual Flounder Flop.
What began a couple of years ago as a small gathering of Daphne friends who did not want to trek to Fairhope or Mobile for their festivities, has grown into a large enough group that it threatens to block traffic this year.
Those wanting a good seat should proceed to Manci’s early, as the drinking and celebrating will begin not long after dark and will continue until the famed fish makes its long-awaited appearance.
Strung on wire on the outside deck, the flounder will drop at least once to ring in the new year. Last year, the drop was repeated several times allowing for photos.
So, if Fairhope or Mobile are just a bit too far out of your way tonight, and you don’t want to risk being on the road with too many drivers who may have indulged, drop by Manci’s for the flop.
