Manchester United will play host to the second Northwest Derby of the 2012-13 English Premier League campaign on Jan. 13, 2013. The Red Devils managed to escape with a 1-2 victory over Liverpool earlier in the year on the day of the Hillsborough memorial ceremony that saw legendary Red Devil Sir Bobby Charlton and Liverpool beloved Ian Rush share the burden of a 96 rose floral arrangement at the half line during a heart moving opening ceremony.
A match that would see the Reds play with their hearts on the sleeves ended in utter frustration as they had outplayed Manchester United all afternoon only to see Sir Alex Ferguson manage to tip another victory at the death.
Liverpool however, are no stranger to taking three points from their rivals away from home either as the memory of the Reds 1-4 rout of United in 2009 is still fresh in the minds of the Red Devil faithful. Fernando Torres may not be leading the line, but an in-form Luis Suarez is not one to allow any room for error either.
Wayne Rooney is the biggest miss of the weekend for Sir Alex Ferguson according to ESPN as the England international would do anything to feature but his recent knee injury has only seen him just return to training. Both Anderson and Nani are expected to be fit but will more than likely be on the bench.
Projected Manchester United First Team: David De Gea: Rafael, Johnny Evans, Nemanja Vidic, Patrice Evra; Antonio Valencia, Michael Carrick, Paul Scholes, Ashley Young; Robin Van Persie, Javier Hernandez.
