Manchester Orchestra announce "Cope" with supporting tour and new track

Manchester Orchestra dropped an overwhelming amount of good news this morning in the form of new album news and tour details.

The group will release Cope, the fourth full-length, and the follow-up to 2011’s Simple Math on April 1 via Loma Vista and Favorite Gentlemen Records.

In support of Cope, Manchester Orchestra will be embarking on a split U.K. and North American tour this spring. Supporting them are Balance And Composure and label mate Kevin Devine. The tour dates for both legs of the tour are below.

Despite the ferocity and overall loudness of choice cuts from their past two releases, the group is already referring to Cope as their “heavy” record. Vocalist Andy Hull explained the record’s vibe saying, “We wanted to make the kind of album that's missing at this time in rock: something that's just brutal and pounding you over the head every track. Whereas Simple Math was a different palate with each song, a different color, I wanted this to be black and red the whole time."

Don’t take Hull’s word for though. In addition to announcing the album, the group released their new track “Top Notch” for streaming and (free) download. A fan favorite premiered on their previous mini tour run this past fall, “Top Notch” is immediate and loud with blaring, fuzzy distortion. If the song itself is any indication of the album’s direction, then expect 38 minutes of pure rock and roll chaos.

Cope can be preordered at Manchester Orchestra’s web store.
