'Management' orders Artie Lange to stay home
Howard Stern Show fans have long wondered how long it would take for Sirius XM executives to step in on the Artie Lange situation. Since Lange's 2007 on-air announcement of his heroin addiction, the beleaguered 'Beer League' star has had a series of days of missed work, on-air explosions, DUIs and extensive on-air examinations of the roots of his depression and chronic substance abuse.

Another cliffhanger before holiday break.....wow what a surprise!!!
Something's afoot. I don't buy it. Artie will be back, don't expect him back after Howie renew's his SiriusXM contract for another 5yrs though.
Bring on Dave Attell!
What a shame! I love Artie. Get better dude. We all have our vices. Don't let yours get the better of you.
That's probably true....keep us guessing while they take 2 whole weeks off (must be nice.) The less Stern works, the more money he makes. Go figure.

It's always a cliffhanger before a big break, so everyone talks about and tunes in when they return. It's all BS, Artie hasn't done anything differant than he has always done. I love Artie, but I think Howard can bring a new comedian in every week. Artie has a few mill in the bank a young girlfriend and just doesn't want to work anymore.
I agree with the cynical Artie cliffhanger before a break comments. I do believe, however, that he is going untreated for the co-occurring disorders of addiction and bipolar personality disorder. Anyone can tell the guy is both an addict and bipolar, and he has yet to be successfully treated for either. He may or may not be seeing a shrink, but that doesn't excuse the fact that he needs to be in a substance abuse treatment program AND be on the proper medications for bipolar disorder. Maybe finally "management" (i.e. Howard) can force him to get treatment for BOTH problems.
Sounds a bit manufactured, but that's entertainment.
Bravo to SIRIUS management for finally doing what Howard should have done years ago, instead of forcing the long-suffering audience to have to put up with Artie's immature, unprofessional, tiresome antics. Good riddance to Artie. May he never return to the Howard Stern show. He's a loudmouth, unfunny, spoiled, arrogant, mean-spirited, self-indulgent, racist, sexist, homophobic jerk. It sounds as if his father was an unscrupulous loser, yet Fatso Artie has used that death as an excuse to waaah and blubber and repeatedly resort to bad behavior, even though the guy croaked over two DECADES ago. How lame. Artie needs to grow up and stop feeling sorry for himself. Hopefully Howard will bring on a fresh new comedian with at least a slight bit of class to take his place. No more Artie, PLEASE!!!
I kinda think we've seen or heard the last of Artie.
I've seen addicts at a big company I worked for and when they start missing a lot of days management gets fed up in a hurry.
Artie was pushing Sirius to do this and I thing they're done.
Don't say anything about any of the Stern cast at all on the SFN or you will get banned like i did for saying something about HPE and ANE.
Artie was definitely off his game last week, he is funnier and quicker when he isn't high. It's too bad, I don't think he is faking this, he has an addiction, hopefully he gets OK, but in the meantime, we get to listen and learn about the intimiate lifestyles of others, and realize that EVERYONE is messed up a little ( or alot) and we all have our quirks and insecurities. This show allows us to see the world through other's eyes, and it is unique for radio, although reality TV is booming because of this concept.
Artie, how can a junkie be so fat?
What just happened?...I was doodling.
Who is Pon?
I think Artie is doing the Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew show. He had previously declined to be on the show- it airs in January. This is the only time of the year they could potentially get Artie to film, however. They can shoot an abbreviated rehab stint with Artie only missing a week of work and still get enough footage with time for editing. When he makes the big announcement when the show resumes in the new year, Sirius gets publicity, the show gets publicity, and everyone wins. I think this has been planned the whole time.
First off I wish Artie the best and hope he gets back soon. Secondly, It must be nice to be Chris ( the guy above with all the nice things to say). Chris I hope for your sake you never go through the things Artie has gone through. Your right about the fact that Sirius did the right thing by making him take a break (if that in fact is what really happened) but after that you just sound like jerk. You have no idea what your talking about and clearly no idea what he is going through. Wether you think he is funny or not he is a good guy, who is going through a bad time. We cant all be you.
To "Friend of the Show": Waaaaaah, let's all feel sorry for the spoiled, arrogant Mama's Boy. I'm sick of paying a monthly fee to listen to his self-indulgent pity-parties month after month. I save my sympathy for those who are going through rough times through no fault of their own. Artie's problems are totally self-inflicted. Howard has said over and over that Artie wants what Artie wants, and refuses to deny himself. He thinks it's sooo entertaining to come in and bore everyone describing his latest screw-ups. Yawn. I'm a "friend of the show", too --- the Howard Stern show, that is, NOT the Artie Lange show, which it becomes far too often. Artie needs to go away. BTW, Jason, I hope you're not right, but it does sound plausible that Sirius and Artie could have cooked up the scenario you suggested and that he actually is filming Celebrity Rehab. After all, nothing is more important to Lange than money, and he did brag previously that he was offered a lot of $$$ to appear.

Yes, please bring Dave Attell in the mix. That guy is brilliant.
Good question!

they should begin allowing a celebrity comedian to sit in on the show. might as well start interviewing.
Enough with this. Hoo-hoo does this before every break. Of course Howie doesn't have anything to say, he's been mailing it in for years, so why would he have something to say now?
Anyone remember me?
I sure hope Artie is ok. I want him to come back, but I have to agree he needs to grow up. enough already.
I'm a long time fan of the Stern show and I will be very disappointed if the rumors of Artie doing the rehab show turn out to be true. I don't give a damn what Artie does, but I don't want the Stern show to yank fan's chains to go along with some bit that Artie and "managemen" cooked up so he could go on celeb rehab.
I'm an Artie fan, but I'm also an adult and a business owner, and at some point you can cross the line from being supportive to being an enabler for this type of scenario with employees like Artie. He's a creative and comic genius, but unchecked, he's a straight up liability, to himself, the show and Sirius. I want Sirius to succeed first and foremost. If Artie can be along for the ride, thats great, if not, there is a long line of talent that Howard / Sirius can put in his chair.....dont get me wrong, I'd prefer a clean and sober Artie on the show, to a chronically f'd up Artie off the show....but he needs to formally get himself fixed....and soon before he joins a list of other unfortunate comic legends......
bring back Jackie - if you listen to the old shows - you can hear the banter back and forth and the real belly laughs that the crew enjoyed between each other. That was fun and funny. They have bent the rules for Artie - why not for Jackie? Even having him in part time - if lack of sleep was the problem. Go out with a bang (and some real laughs)Howard!
I thought the last few months artie had gone through some kind of rehab and was dieting , getting his act together and all of a sudden this happens, wow crazy
well at least we know why he wanted to kill himself. You basically tell a guy with severe depresion, drug addiction and a history of suicide attempts that your about to fire him 2 weeks before christmas. Classy!!
I MISS ARTIE! HE BROUGHT COLOR TO THE SHOW.I AM A HUGE FAN BUT LETS FACE IT...HOWARD ,ROBIN &FRED GIVE GOOD COMMENTARY BUT THEY ARE OLDER NOW WITH SOMEWHAT BORING LIVES AND SO THEY HAVE FEW NEW "STORIES"
ARTIE WAS DATING A LITTLE;PLUS HAD ROAD STORIES (OLD AND CURRENT)
AND SHARED A PIECE OF HIMSELF EVERY WEEK! I AM SHOCKED THAT HE WOULD PUT HIS MOTHER IN A POSITION TO FIND HIM LIKE THAT.
Got something to say?
