A man and woman were killed late Wednesday night after their vehicle was involved in a collision with a tractor-trailer in Suwanee.
Mr. Ethan Ashline, 20, and Ms. Adrianna Romero, 25, died at the scene of the crash on Satellite Boulevard near Shawnee Industrial Way where traffic is controlled by a stop sign, according to Gwinnett County police.
Investigators said that around 10:15 p.m. officers were dispatched to a traffic collision involving a white Chrysler PT Cruiser and a tractor-trailer, which did not have a trailer attached.
The 50-year-old driver of the tractor-trailer, Mr. Eddie Scott, was traveling northbound on Satellite Boulevard, and the driver of the Cruiser, Mr. Ashline, was attempting to make a left turn from Shawnee Industrial Way onto Satellite Boulevard southbound when the wreck happened, police spokeswoman Cpl. Michele Pihera said.
Mr. Ashline pulled into the intersection and into the path of the tractor-trailer which resulted in the tractor-trailer striking the Cruiser on the driver’s side door.
The Cruiser came to a final rest in the southbound lanes of Satellite Boulevard, and the tractor-trailer traveled off the roadway and into the woods before coming to a stop.
A backseat passenger in the Cruiser, Mr. Justin Kyall, 31, was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. Mr. Scott did not require medical attention.
Neither speed nor alcohol is believed to be contributing factors, but this investigation is still active.
