A man and woman were found shot to death inside a Clayton County home. And police on Saturday said their deaths resulted from a murder-suicide.
But it’s unclear what prompted the deadly shooting and who called police. Police also have not released their relationship, only confirming that the two lived together.
They have identified the man and woman as Mr. Rene Vasquez, 38, and Ms. Mayra Martines, 45, Clayton County police spokesman Officer Phong Nguyen said Saturday.
Officers responded to the home at 7:10 a.m. Friday after getting a call about a “person down” at the home on Victoria Drive.
They found the man dead in the garage, Officer Nguyen said. And while searching the home to see if anyone else was inside injured, they found the woman deceased in an upstairs bedroom, Officer Nguyen said.
So far, no details have been released on the circumstances of the shooting. But investigators believe Ms. Martines shot Mr. Vasquez in the garage of their home then walked to an upstairs bedroom and shot herself.
Police found the gun beside her body, he said.
