Man with Down Syndrome only one in US to own restaurant

Tim's Place is a staple restaurant for most in Alburquerque. Not only because the owner is the only person in the US with Down Syndrome to own a restaurant but because he specializes in breakfast, lunch, and hugs reports Jezebel on March 1.

Tim, a Special Olympics medalist with Down Syndrome, says that it was always his dream to own a restaurant and he's been living the dream for the past two years, successfully. Tim is so happy about living out his dream that he starts every day by dancing to work. Customers say that his hugs are always warm and enthusiastic and are offered right on the menu. It's his specialty and he's so proud of it that he has a hug counter posted in the dining room of the restaurant. To date, Tim Harris has doled out over 59,000 hugs in two years!

Many people that can attest to the food claim that Tim's is the best place for some waffles, and a New Mexico favorite of Christmas breakfast burritos and huevos rancheros. Patrons also say that his staff is always friendly as well.

It's always touching to see a family with a special needs child that doesn't shelter their children and disable them by not allowing them to do the things they want and fulfill their own dreams. Tim must have awesome parents.
