Ronald F. Golden, 48, of Athens, was charged with animal cruelty after investigators discovered dead kittens on his property and a room in his home stained with blood.
According to the News Courier, police acting on a tip to investigate dead kittens in his yard also searched Golden's home. There they found a "cat room", which had blood splattered on the walls and floor. Police Chief Floyd Johnson said Golden allegedly used the room to throw kittens against the floor to break their necks, stomp on them or wring their necks.
Golden admitted he had been using Craigslist to get the kittens, and that the killing had started in July. He told investigators he killed the kittens because he is "angry at the world."
Two living kittens and two dogs were also found on his property.
An hour after his arrest on Thursday, Golden was released after his mother posted bail, which was set at $22,000. If convicted, he faces a sentence of one year and one day on each of the felony animal cruelty counts.
