According to Monday's publication of the Las Vegas Sun, a 22-year-old, Las Vegas, Nev., man who is accused of slitting his parents' dog's throat, has agreed to plead guilty.
Jeremy Espiritu used a serrated knife to slash the throat of his parents' black Labrador retriever, named "Serenity" this past December; when questioned as to why he would do such a thing, Espiritu responded that he "likes to hurt dogs."
The man was also overheard telling his mother that he "wanted to" hurt the dog.
When Serenity was initially found by Espiritu's step-father, she was still alive, but bleeding profusely from her neck; she died a short time later from her wounds.
If all goes as planned, Espiritu will plead guilty at his March 5 arraignment to one count of attempting to kill an animal.
