Baxter County, Arkansas - Back in 2009, Arkansas state law was revised to allow for animal cruelty to become a felony in the first offense.
Thanks to that change, Gary E. Jackson, the man accused of placing his girlfriend's Chihuahua into a washing machine back in January, will be spending two years behind bars.
Jackson's barbaric act resulted in the small dog's death.
Jackson was sentenced after he pleaded to contest to a charge of aggravated animal cruelty in Baxter County Circuit court on Thursday.
According to the Baxter Bulletin, police were alerted to the devastating situation when they responded to Jackson's girlfriend's residence following a domestic disturbance call.
The woman's Chihuahua was found inside of the washing machine. Unbelievably, the dog was believed to have been alive prior to being put inside of the machine.
Rest in peace to this innocent victim, name unknown.
