A 20-year-old man wanted for a deadly shooting outside a Dalton nightclub was arrested Monday, ending a 40-hour manhunt by local, state and federal agents.
Mr. Orlando Ramirez was arrested around 4:30 p.m. in Marietta and charged with murder and two counts of aggravated assault in the double shooting that happened early Sunday morning, according to Dalton police.
Detectives following up on leads tracked the Dalton murder suspect to the Harmony Meadows apartment complex at 1910 South Cobb Drive where he answered the door to U.S. Marshals and Cobb County deputies, police spokesman Officer Bruce Frazier said.
After a brief struggle, he was tasered and taken into custody, Mr. Frazier said.
His girlfriend, Ms. Alexa Jiminez, 18, was also arrested on charges of making false statements to law enforcement officers and hindering the apprehension or punishment of a criminal, the spokesman said.
She allegedly lied to detectives about Mr. Ramirez’ whereabouts, Mr. Frazier said.
Mr. Ramirez allegedly shot two security guards at the Las Delicias bar at 511 East Morris St. shortly before 12:45 a.m. Sunday.
Police said the shooting occurred after Mr. Ramirez was prevented from entering the nightclub because of his age.
The victims: Mr. Bruno Rodriguez, 28, died at the scene of a gunshot wound to the head and Mr. Daniel Maldonado-Flores, 37, was shot in the leg and neck, Mr. Frazier said.
Two other men who allegedly left the scene with Mr. Ramirez were also charged.
Mr. Juvencio Garcia and Mr. Fernando Resendiz were arrested Sunday on homicide charges as accessories to the crime, Mr. Frazier said.
