'Man vs. Wild''s Bear Grylls stars in Air New Zealand's in-flight safety video

Air New Zealand earned a spot on YouTube.com's "Trending" list at the end of last year with their comedic and entertaining in-flight safety video featuring cast members from Peter Jackson's The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. Now, they're at it again as they team up with writer/television star Edward Michael "Bear" Grylls, from the survivalist series Man vs. Wild, for a more rustic edition of the precautions you should follow before every flight.

In a style akin to the Hobbit-themed video, this clip also imbibes the theme of the actor(s) starring in it. Here, Grylls takes his super-sized fish as his carry-on into the wild outdoors, while demonstrating with his fellow actors how to properly wear an oxygen mask and inflate a life jacket. Grylls is an iconic example of safety, as he has demonstrated how to survive on your own if abandoned in some pretty inhospitable environments on Man vs. Wild that, hopefully, most of us will never experience.

What's special about this clip is that it is the first airline safety video to be filmed entirely outside of an airplane. The fact that it was filmed on New Zealand's South Island draws attention to Air New Zealand's association with the Department of Conservation. Local animals like the Tuatara lizard, Kia bird and Weta insect are showcased here alongside Ruud Kleinpaste, a New Zealand native and entomologist.

Similar to their previous contest offered in the Hobbit-themed video, here Air New Zealand offers viewers the chance to win a trip for two from anywhere in the world to New Zealand ("The Great Kiwi Bucket List").
