A man tried to trade a gator for beer, but police bust up this bizarre attempt at bartering. Fernando Caignet Aguilera, 64, walked into a Florida convenience store with a four-foot gator in box and all he wanted was an even trade, according to CNN on Dec. 17.
Apparently the convenience store clerk didn’t give Aguilera’s offer a second thought and just called the police. Aguilera caught the gator across the street from the convenience store at a park. He wanted a 12-pack of beer so he attempted to give the barter system a shot.
Police arrived and charged him with the second degree misdemeanor of taking possession and selling an alligator. He faces a $500 fine and up to six months in jail.
The alligator was unhurt during this barter attempt and it was returned to the wild at the hands of wildlife officials. This was a first for the police, who said they never had anyone trying to trade a gator for a 12-pack of beer, or any amount of beer or any type of product for that matter!
