According to Live Science, a 23-year-old man had a fixation with drinking blood. Doctors in Turkey stated that the man started with slicing his own flesh and would let the blood drip into a cup and he would drink it. Sources say that he even got his father to get him bags of blood from the blood banks and he has been arrested several times because he would try to drink the strangers blood. The other strange thing was he would have lapses of memory about his actions and even about his own childhood.
The report about the man was released by the Journal of Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics. The report said that he doesn't just have a problem with drinking human blood but he also has multiple personalities. The man had claimed to be tormented by an imaginary companion, who supposedly forced him to carry out the acts and his own attempted suicide.
The doctors of the Denizli Military Hospital in southwestern Turkey diagnosed the man with dissociative identity disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, chronic depression, and alcohol abuse. The doctors have said that this was their first patient with vampirism and dissociative identity disorder. They also said that the reasoning behind his behavior could have been because of several traumatic events that happened in his life, one event was when he saw the killing of his uncle.
There is some good news, six weeks after he was committed in the hospital, the doctors said that his blood drinking habit was in remission but sadly he was still suffering from dissociative identity disorder.
