A man recently pulled over in Oakdale, Calif., for allegedly driving under the influence, is also believed to have killed and mutilated a cat, reported Monday's 9 News.
The disturbing find was made by an officer who pulled over 31-year-old David Ronald Aguiar early Friday morning.
Officer Daniel Peters initially pulled Aguiar over because the man was observed swerving on the road.
The officer stated that the man appeared to be "highly under the influence of a controlled substance."
According to News 10, Officer Peters was tipped off to the presence of the cat by the tremendous amount of fur covering the inside of the vehicle, as well as the man's clothes.
After searching Aguiar's truck, the "mutilated" body of a cat was found. The man allegedly admitted to killing the cat with his bare hands.
Aguiar told the officer that he had found the cat and stopped to pet it, but the cat scratched him. Following the scratch, Aguiar flew into a rage, allegedly admitting to brutally attacking the cat with punches and kicks.
Officer Peters stated:
He was angry to begin with. He was angry that he didn't get his child visit that he was supposed to have,
He obviously had a rage issue. God only knows what he would have done to a human, knowing he did that to a defenseless animal.
Aguiar was booked into jail on charges of cruelty to animals and driving under the influence; he was released after posting bail.
