Man stabs sister to death, then suffers fatal heart attack

In a bizarre tale of sibling murder and comeuppance, 55-year-old Mr. Lynn Conrad of Ripley, Tenn. stabbed his sister to death on Wednesday, disposed of her remains, and then died hours later after suffering a heart attack.

Friends, neighbors, and relatives of Lynn Conrad and his sibling victim Pam Ashmore are still trying to figure out why it all happened and come to grips with the double tragedy.

One friend of the couple, Tutor Moffatt, was quoted by WMC-TV in Tenn. as saying “it's hard really hard,"

"Me and my wife has sat and cried all day long. Pam was a real good person and Little Lynn," he added.

Officials investigating the incident claim that the stabbing murder took place in the Lauderdale Co. mobile home shared by the two siblings.

Reportedly, Conrad tried to dispose of and hide his sister’s body a few miles away from their trailer after he killed her. Transporting Pam Ashmore’s remains in his truck, Conrad drove to a rural section of Jack Rabbit Road and dumped the body “in the bottoms.”

And then, in what could have been written as a scene from a dark comedy film, Conrad’s truck got stuck in the mud, forcing him to walk a few miles until he reached the home of one of his relatives that lived in the area.

Conrad knocked on his relative’s door around 8:00 a.m. Wednesday morning.

"When I came to the door he called my name," relative Robert Jones said.

"I said what's wrong. He said I think I'm having a stroke," Jones added.

Conrad was transported to the hospital after Jones and his wife dialed 911. While at the hospital, Conrad informed Jones about his truck being stuck in the mud.

And then Lynn Conrad died.

Afterwards, Robert Jones found Conrad’s truck and contacted the Sheriff's department.

No-one was yet aware of the stabbing death and disposal of Pam Ashmore’s body until later in the day Wednesday when her remains were discovered.

Lynn Conrad had an extensive criminal history which included a “murder conviction from the 1970's for which he served time.”

Sheriff Steve Sanders of the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department said there is not yet any motive for the killing and that the case is still under investigation.
