A man was stabbed multiple times and left to die Saturday morning off the side of the road near I-75 and I-85 in northwest Atlanta, police said.
The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office said they have determined the victim’s identity but have declined to release his name until his next of kin is notified. Police are still trying to determine who killed the man and why.
The call came in at 8:16 a.m. that a person was down or injured near I-75 and I-85, according to Atlanta police. Officers responded to the area at 400 Spring Street and found a man in the grass suffering from multiple stab wounds, police spokesman Sgt. Greg Lyon said. The man was transported by EMS to Grady Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced deceased shortly after his arrival, Lyon said.
So far, police have released few details about the circumstances surrounding the stabbing and it’s unclear if the man was attacked in the area where he was found or if he was left there. It was also unclear late Saturday what type of weapon was used to stab the man and if their were any defensive wounds.
Police also have not released any details on where on the body the man was stabbed or how many times. Still, the investigation is continuing, police said. Anyone who has any information regarding the homicide is asked to contact the police department.
