Man slaps crying baby on plane update: Suspect, Joe Rickey Hundley, had record (Photos)

There is an update on the case of the man who allegedly slapped a crying baby on a plane. The suspect in the in-flight baby slap, Joe Rickey Hundley, has a record for a prior assault conviction, CNN reported Friday. Hundley pleaded guilty to the prior misdemeanor assault six years ago. Hundley was contacted by CNN but he referred the network to his attorney. Hundley’s attorney could not be immediately reached by the network.

Hundley’s prior conviction

The Smoking Gun reports that Hundley’s prior assault conviction was in 2007 and had followed a fight with his girlfriend when he was drunk. At first, prosecutors charged him with simple assault, carrying a concealed weapon, and public intoxication. The case was later settled as part of a plea bargain. Hundley pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault. Hundley told the SG that the weapon he is alleged to have used in that case was a wine corkscrew.
