A man slaps a crying baby? That's exactly what happened on a Delta Airlines flight according to a report from Friday (Feb. 15). The incident didn't end there, though, as the man allegedly used a racial epithet while demanding that his mother keep him quiet.
In the report, FBI special agent Daron Cheney said that Jo Rickey Hundley "told her to shut that ('N word') baby up." Hundley is said to be a 60-year-old man from Idaho, but he wasn't even taken into custody when the plane landed. He did get charged for simple assault, but it was not clarified when he will appear in court.
Any time a man slaps a crying baby it is a serious offense, especially when the child doesn't have the ability to defend itself. That has led to a lot of negative buzz about what Hundley did, which was made even worse by the fact that he allegedly also used the racial epithet. In the court of public opinion, he wouldn't stand a chance.
At least one person on the plane stood up for the child and his mother, coming over when he heard what was taking place from a few seats away. He could end up being a witness when the case makes it to a courtroom.
As for the man who slapped a crying baby, there could definitely be some jail time in his near future.
