A man was shot to death late Friday afternoon outside a convenience store in College Park, and police have identified the man they believe killed him.
But they have not yet been able to catch him.
The suspect has been identified as Mr. David Walter Roberts, Jr. and police said he should be considered armed and dangerous. They have not yet released the name of the victim.
The shooting happened around 4:45 p.m. at the Chevron Food Mart at 2216 Godby Road, according to College Park police.
Officers responded to the scene after getting a call about a person shot and found the 28-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the chest, police spokesman Master Sergeant Jeffrey Hightower said.
He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
“The shooting apparently resulted from a verbal altercation that took place outside in front of the store between the victim and the suspect,” Mr. Hightower said.
He did not say what the two men were arguing about.
“There were multiple witnesses who saw the suspect shoot the victim,” Mr. Hightower said.
Anyone who knows the whereabouts of the 30-year-old suspect is asked to call 911.
