A man was shot multiple times and left to die in a woman’s front yard Monday night in southeast Atlanta. A second man was found bound and knocking on a woman’s door saying he had been kidnapped.
Police on Tuesday were searching for the suspect who they said used the kidnapped victim’s vehicle to transport and dump the shooting victim in the woman's yard. They were also trying to determine the motive for the shooting.
The investigation began at 9:01 p.m. officers responded to 2980 Jonesboro Road after getting a report of a person shot, according to Atlanta police.
But they didn’t find a victim, instead they located multiple cartridge cases were found, police spokeswoman Officer Kim Jones said.
“A security officer at that location said that she was told by residents that the gunman loaded the victim into the trunk of a silver Pontiac,” Officer Jones said.
The Pontiac was gone by the time officers arrived.
At 9:07 pm, a resident of 565 Springside Drive called to report that a gunshot victim was in her front yard and a silver Pontiac was backed into her driveway, Officer Jones said.
The registered owner’s address was 2980 Jonesboro Road.
The wounded victim was transported to Grady Hospital where he died from his injuries, which consisted of several gunshot wounds to the chest and neck.
At 12:21 am, residents of 1017 Westview Drive called 911 to report a suspicious man knocking at her door.
“The male was found by responding officers with his wrists and ankles bound with tape,” Officer Jones said. “He told the officers that he had been kidnapped from 2980 Jonesboro Road. He had some minor, superficial injuries and he requested transportation to Grady Hospital.”
