A 24-year-old man was found dead inside a vehicle after being shot multiple times Sunday in Athens – and police said they have identified the man they believe killed him.

But a day later, they still haven’t been able to find him.

Still, they have issued arrest warrants for Mr. Melvin Lewis Brown, of Athens, for felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to Athens-Clarke County police.

“This incident was not a random act of violence as information supports that the suspect and victim knew each other,” police said. Still, they have not released a motive for the murder.

Around 3:50 p.m. officers responded to the 300 block of Lombardy Circle off Danielsville Road after getting a report of a shooting, police spokeswoman Ms. Hilda Sorrow said.

When officers arrived, they found the vehicle in the roadway with Mr. Javious Tucker dead inside from apparent gunshot wounds, Ms. Sorrow said.

“An additional victim, Cyntrellis Boggs, 25, was located, and it was determined Boggs had been inside the vehicle with Tucker when shots were fired from outside the vehicle,” Ms. Sorrow said. She declined to comment on where the 25-year-old was found or the injuries the victim sustained.
