A man was shot early Sunday morning by another man who interrupted an argument between him and his girlfriend at a hotel in Bibb County. Police hours later were still searching for the other man.
The victim, 34-year-old Brandon Cole, of Macon, was in stable condition in the hospital Monday, officials said. The girlfriend, 24-year-old Laqunza Williams, of Macon, was not injured.
The shooting happened around 5 a.m. at the America’s Best Inn at 4941 Harrison Road, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies responded to the hotel after getting a report of a person shot, the sheriff’s spokesman Lt. Sean DeFoe said.
Investigators said Cole was having an argument with his girlfriend when a man known to Cole as “Squirrel” got in between Cole and Williams during their argument. They did not say what the couple was arguing about.
Cole told deputies Williams moved to the side and the argument then began between Cole and “Squirrel” who allegedly shot Cole in the right shoulder, DeFoe said.
Cole was transported to a local hospital for his injury, which is not considered life-threatening, DeFoe said.
The suspect “Squirrel” is described as a 6-foot, light skin black male who weighs about 160 pounds and was last seen wearing all black clothing.
