According to police, a group of four or five people came into to lobby of the Inkster police station to make a report of stolen property.
At that time, the unidentified suspect from the complaint drove by and fired two shots at the building. One of the bullets penetrated two glass doors and entered the lobby area of the station. Nobody was hurt, according to Inkster Police Lieutenant Jeff Smith.
The suspect then fled the area.
A BOLO (Be on the lookout) was broadcast from Inkster to area departments and the Garden City Police were able to locate and follow the vehicle which eventually came to a rolling stop. When the officers approached the vehicle they discovered the suspect had died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The Michigan State Police are handling the investigation surrounding the man’s death, Smith said.
