Man shakes baby to death for interrupting his video game!

There is yet another horror story that is shedding a negative light on the gaming industry.  This time the story takes place in a small town in
Vermont
.
Brattleboro, Vermont, is now the center of what has become a horrific case of shaken baby syndrome.  Through the news reports it appears that 23-year-old James Petrin has been charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of his eight-week-old daughter, Trisha Joy.  The report states that Petrin shook his daughter so hard that he caused severe brain and internal injuries.  Trisha Joy was pronounced dead five days later at a
New Hampshire
hospital.  According to the grandmother of the baby, Petrin was mad at the baby for crying and interrupting his game playing.  Petrin reportedly was in the middle of playing a game when the baby started crying.  He then reached over picked the baby up and began shaking her to get the crying to stop.

On Monday morning, James Petrin was sentenced to 8 to 15 years in prison.  The charges were amended from second-degree murder to involuntary manslaughter, hence the lighter sentence.  The question that I raise to you, my readers, is could you ever see yourself get so mad that you had to stop playing, you could ever blow up on someone?  Obviously, I don’t mean get mad enough to shake a baby, because no one would ever say they would do it.  I mean, do you get mad enough to snap on someone who interrupts you while you play?

I know that this story is not video game review or anything like that, but I am about to have my first son and I could never imagine myself doing this.  Don’t get me wrong I play as serious as the next guy, but never in my life would I take frustration from a video game out on my own flesh and blood.  I am interested in getting your feedback on this one so feel free to drop a line and let us know how you feel.

Alot of you have even overlooked the truth.

I'm sure the man in the article had no intention of hurting his child.. He might have been simply trying to calm her however the adrenaline from playing a video game and stressing out over a tough level or something. He might not have even known he was "shaking" his baby. It's hard to say until you're in a situation like that "what" you would do. It's very sad that he didn't take a second to calm down before going to his daughter.. If he had this could all have been averted.
