This weekend a woman was set on fire by her boyfriend in a San Francisco neighborhood. According to reports by Yahoo News on Monday, Jan. 7 the woman was doused with a flammable liquid and is currently suffering from life-threatening burns.
The victim's sister told KGO-TV that Dexter Oliver, 22, burned his girlfriend by pouring gasoline on her body and then setting her on fire at a local laundromat.
Witnesses in the Bayview District stated they heard a woman screaming according to a statement given by Officer Carlos Manfredi.
Officer Carlos Manfredi also stated that Dexter Oliver was indeed dating the woman; however, he does not know the cause of the attack.
Currently Dexter Oliver is not in custody and police are actively searching for the attacker.
Gasoline is considered a flammable mixture of liquids including hydrocarbons which are obtained from petroleum. When the gas is combined to fire it can cause severe burns that may lead to death.
The idea that someone would set another human being on fire is considered a very vicious act. Hopefully, Dexter Oliver will be found soon and held accountable for his actions.
