Geoffrey Portway, a 40-year-old British citizen, was sentenced in a Worcester, Mass. courtroom on Sept. 17 to 27 years in an American jail after pleading guilty to charges “related to child pornography and plotting a kidnapping and violent crime.”
Portway admitted in a plea agreement to having had online chats with numerous people about "a mutual interest in abducting, raping, murdering, and eating children," prosecutors said. He also admitted trading child pornography. ~ Reuters
Throughout the course of a year-long federal investigation into Portway, authorities discovered “the sound-proofed dungeon, a child-size homemade coffin, a steel cage, a steel-topped table, butcher kits and restraints,” all located in the basement of Portway’s home.
The feds also discovered more than 4,500 instances and exchanges of child porn on Portway’s computer.
Portway’s lawyer admitted that his client was “sick,” but that he was living in a fantasy world and never intended to follow through with plans to kidnap, rape, kill or eat any kids.
After Geoffrey Portway spends 320 months in an American prison, he’ll be deported back to England.
Portway was also ordered by the court to pay $3,000 each to five unnamed victims whose images were discovered on his computer.
