A man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for a 2011 child rape which occurred in Jackson, according to a Tuesday news release from the Jackson Police Department.
Jonathon Henderson, 41, was sentenced Monday in Madison County Circuit Court, Division I, for convictions in a 2011 child rape.
The release said Judge Roy Morgan sentenced Henderson to 25 years for rape of a child and 10 years for aggravated sexual battery. The sentences will be served at the same time for a total effective sentence of 25 years with no parole. There is no early release eligibility for these crimes. Upon release from prison, he must register as a sex offender and have community supervision for life.
The release said following a Feb. 12 trial, a jury found Henderson guilty of rape of a child and aggravated sexual battery for crimes against a 9-year-old girl.
On May 19, 2011, Jackson police was notified by the Tennessee Department of Children's Services about a child sex abuse allegation that occurred in Jackson, the release said. Police investigators and child protective services officials conducted an investigation, which concluded that Henderson committed these crimes.
