A 58-year-old woman contacted the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office when the keys she was given for the new house she just purchased didn’t fit. When police contacted the owner listed on town records, he said he didn’t sell the house and he didn’t give anyone else permission to do so.
John David Seiberling was arrested for his Craigslist scam. The woman had given him a $3,000 cashier’s check for the down payment on the house. Seiberling was renting the house from the owner. After getting the check, he handed over phony keys and left.
Investigators were able to track him down on Sunday and he was arrested for his scam. It might not be a great idea to buy a house off an ad online, the moral of this story goes!
