Daytona Beach Police report that they arrested a man Tuesday after receiving a call about a person carrying a firearm along Mary McLeod Bethune Boulevard. The caller also said the man with the gun was “…walking around telling people that he was going to get revenge for a subject who was recently shot and died from his injuries.” The report on the Daytona Beach Police website says 24-year old Troynard L. Smith was charged with Possession of a weapon and ammunition by a convicted felon, and two narcotics charges.

Police detectives say they responded to the call in plain clothes and an unmarked car, and arrived at a car wash at 840 Mary McLeod Bethune Boulevard around 12:30 Tuesday afternoon. Detectives say they found Smith, who matched the description of the subject reported in the phone call, sitting in a chair behind a car at the car wash, with a dark-colored case in his lap. As the detectives walked into the car wash area, they say Smith walked into the garage of the car wash and left the case in a plastic bin. Smith then walked out of the car wash and was approached by uniformed police officers.

When detectives checked the case, they report they found that the unzipped Nintendo gaming case contained a “…black and brown revolver style handgun…a fully operational Rossi special revolver.” Police say the handgun contained one round in the cylinder of the revolver. Detectives also say the case contained a picture of Deandre Peterson and Justin Williams. Peterson was arrested Saturday in the fatal shooting of Qourdre Wiley. Police have a warrant for the arrest of Justin Williams in a case they say is related to the Wiley shooting. Police say Smith told them Wiley was his cousin.
