According to Sunday's NBC San Diego News, a Crown Point, Calif., man is crediting his dog for chasing away a burglar.

A stranger attempted to break into John Demaria's home early Friday morning, but his dog, a six-year-old pit bull mix named "Chloe," effectively managed to scare the man away.

Demaria said:

She sprang into action, barked at this guy and growled at him and chased him off. It could have been a lot work if it hadn’t been for the dog,

He was going to come right in.

Demaria describes Chloe as a friendly dog who would normally lick someone to death, but on this occasion, her instincts kicked in and her protective side made itself known.

The intruder did manage to steal approximately $1,500 in tools, but if Chloe had not been there, it could have been much worse.

Anyone who recognizes the man captured in surveillance video is asked to contact the San Diego County Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
