Man's car stuck at 125 mph until it ran out of gas 100 miles later

A car going 125 mph offers a scary ride, especially if you can’t slow it down by hitting the brakes. This is what happened to a man on his way to the supermarket, his car just kept gaining speed and stayed at 125 mph no matter what he tried, according to Digital Spy on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013.

The man used his cell phone to call the police and ask for help. They were able to clear the road ahead of this speeding vehicle so Frank Lecerf didn’t come across any barriers such as a traffic jam.

Lecerf was going along at 60 mph when the speed dial jammed and the vehicle would speed up when he’d apply the brake. The car got up to 125 mph and stayed there, leaving Lecerf to navigate the streets at a speed usually reserved for the racing tracks.

The police even called an engineer from the car company and put him on the line with Lecerf, but nothing the expert suggested worked. The Renault Laguna kept the 125 mph pace through the streets of France, near the city of Amiens.

With the police ahead of him clearing the way, Lecerf traveled 100 miles along the French coast, bringing his car over the border into Belgium. The car finally stopped when it ran out of gas. The incident has prompted Lecerf to sue Renault
