A body was found burning over the weekend in some woods in Rockdale County, and deputies are seeking the public’s help in identifying the man.
They are also trying to determine the cause and circumstances of the man’s death. Bu investigators said Tuesday that they don't believe foul play was involved.
Just after 6 p.m. Sunday, someone called 911 to report a fire in a wooded area off Ga. 212 near Susong Road, according to the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office.
“Upon arrival, deputies found a body burning in a small brush fire,” the sheriff’s spokesman Investigator Mr. Michael Camp said.
Investigators responded to process the scene and were not able to find any clues to the man’s identity.
"The Rockdale County Sheriff's Office is continuing the investigation on the body of a man found dead in the woods on Sunday night and is confident that foul play is not involved," Mr. Camp said.
Investigators are waiting on the autopsy to help determine the cause of the man's death.
