Police search for man who robbed grocery store SunTrust in Atlanta

Police are searching for the man who walked into a Publix grocery store Wednesday afternoon in northeast Atlanta and robbed the SunTrust bank inside.

They have released surveillance photos of the suspect, hoping someone will help them identify and catch him.

The incident happened shortly before 2:30 p.m. at the SunTrust in the Publix at 2900 Peachtree Road, according to Atlanta police.

Investigators said a man approached the counter and presented a note demanding money.

“The teller complied with the suspect and he was given an undisclosed amount of cash,” police spokesman Sgt. Greg Lyon said.

Whether he fled on foot or drove away in a car, remained unclear Thursday.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the Atlanta Police Commercial Robbery Unit at (404) 546-4255 or Crime Stoppers at (404) 577-8477. A reward of up to $2,000 is being offered to tipsters, and callers can remain anonymous.
