A man used a cup of coffee as his weapon to rob a Columbus Ohio gas station…after the clerk gave him the coffee free. The incident occurred at a Sunoco station , located at 4840 Sinclair Rd. Surveillance video of the December 26 robbery was just released by Central Ohio Crime Stoppers.
According to Crime Stoppers, the man entered the Sunoco and stated he wanted the clerk to make a fresh pot of coffee. After the employee complied, the man, described as a black male in his 50s, approximately 6 ft tall, 160 to 170 pounds with a thin beard poured himself a cup of the freshly brewed hot coffee, then told the store employee that he could not pay. After the employee let him have the coffee for free, stating that the man could pay for it the next time he came to the gas station, the man thanked him and started to leave. He returned momentarily and said he forgot to put sugar in the coffee. He added sugar and then threw the cup of hot coffee into the employee’s face. Leaping across the counter, he ordered the employee to “get on the ground!” The Columbus Dispatch reported that the robber also shoved the male employee to the floor. The robber stole approximately $200 cash from the register before making his getaway in a white or silver 4-door vehicle.
