A man robbed a Chase Bank branch Wednesday morning without ever leaving his car.

Now Forsyth County deputies are searching for the man who allegedly threatened to set off an explosive at the bank.

The robbery happened shortly before 11:20 a.m. at the branch at 1710 Buford Hwy. at the intersection of Trammel Road, according to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators said a man driving a black 4-door 2012 or 2013 Hyundai Genesis robbed the bank in the drive-thru lane.

“The white male received an undisclosed amount of cash after he gave the teller a note,” Sheriff Duane K. Piper said in a news release. “The note stated that the attached item was an explosive device.”

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation Bomb Disposal Unit responded to the scene and detonated the device, Sheriff Piper said. The device turned out to be a non-explosive item, he said.

Anyone with information about this incident or the suspect is asked to call the sheriff’s criminal investigation section at (678) 886-2800, ext. 3880. If you are calling after hours, call the dispatch center at (770) 781-3087.
