Man robbed at gunpoint in Santa Cruz motel room

Santa Cruz police are searching for a couple who robbed a man at gunpoint Tuesday afternoon.

The victim was staying at a Mission Street motel and was in his room when the incident occurred. The two suspects, a man and a woman, confronted the victim in his room and demanded cash. The victim complied and the suspects fled the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

Authorities quickly responded and searched the area with the aid of a police dog, but the suspects were nowhere to be found.

The first suspect was described as a black female between 17 and 18 years old and about 5’9”. She was wearing a white sweatshirt and dark, baggy pants.

The second suspect was a black male between 19 and 21 years old with a thin build. He was wearing a long-sleeved shirt with horizontal yellow and dark stripes. He was armed with a black semi-automatic handgun with a chrome slide, police say.
