Shayne Carpenter was arrested Thursday after he tried to make his girlfriend sick by adding drops of Visine to her drink.
Shayne, 27 was arrested in Grass Valley, California after his girlfriend saw text messages on his phone that made her suspicious and she called the police.
The girlfriend had become violently ill after she consumed a beverage after the couple had a fight.
Nevada County Sheriff, Lt. Steve Tripp said this to ABC about the messages Carpenter had sent to a friend referring the Visine in her drink;
"He was making texts to his buddies that if 'She's going to be talking crap then she's going to be crapping,'"
Shayne was booked and released on $25,000 bail for domestic violence and poisoning charges.
He admitted that he had added Visine to her drink over the phone police said.
The girlfriend, whose name has not been released was treated at the local hospital and later released.
In August of last year, a Pennsylvania woman was arrested and charged after she had been trying to poison her boyfriend with Visine drops in his water over the last three years.
Vickie Jo Mills admitted that she had added Visine into her boyfriend, Thomas Nesbitt's water many times since 2009.
She did it in the hopes that he would pay more attention to her
The boyfriend had suffered through the years with nausea, breathing problems and high blood pressure because of the isine and after he got suspicious a blood test showed he had a lot of the chemical in his system nd it could cause seizures and even death.
Nesbitt has suffered for years with many symptoms like nausea, vomiting, breathing problems, and high blood pressure.
When police performed another blood test on him they showed that he had 49 nanograms per milliliter of the chemical in his system, which is extremely high and could cause many serious problems such as seizures, and even a coma.
Vickie could face many years in jail over this and it is not known what charges Carpenter will face.
