According to a report published by CNN on Oct. 28, 25-year-old Mingdong Chen has pleaded not guilty in the stabbing deaths of a New York mother and her four children.
CNN reports that Chen pleaded not guilty to murder charges on Monday. Officials say that Chen has made statements about his role in the stabbings that took place on Saturday, Oct. 26 in Brooklyn, New York.
Authorities are still trying to understand what caused Chen to kill 37-year-old Qiao Zhen and her four children; 9-year-old Linda Zhuo, 7-year-old Amy Zhuo, 5-year-old Kevin Zhuo, and 1-year-old William Zhuo.
Qiao Zhen, who was married to Chen's cousin, reportedly called her mother in-law after she noticed Chen acting suspiciously. Reports indicate that Zhen's mother in-law sent her daughter to check on Zhen and her children, but she was too late. When Chen opened the door he was covered in blood.
Police say all five of the victims suffered stab wounds to the upper body, and that three of the children died at the scene. Reports indicate that Zhen and one of the children were transported to the hospital where they later died from their injuries.
