A 40-year-old man said to be "obsessed" with actress Selena Gomez, was arrested Thursday in Oklahoma City for the grisly murders of his mother, sister, niece and nephew. Daniel Green has been charged with first-degree murder in the deaths of his family members, who ranged in age from 57 years to just 7 months old. The carnage apparently took place the day before in the home they all shared, according to Radar Online on Saturday, Aug. 17. There's no evidence yet that his obsession with Selena Gomez, 21, played a direct part in the murders, but Green's Facebook page was covered with photos of the former Disney star who he called "yummy".
Green was said to have an "extreme obsession" with Gomez, and his posts spoke of his wanting to marry her. He even said he loved her more than his own family members, according to NewsOn6.
Another family member found the bodies Thursday. Apparently a blood trail then led cops to the suspect.
"I want her (to) be my eternal wife and the queen of my kingdom forever. Hey, I love her more than god, my momma, my dad, Jesus, myself and ya’ll", Green wrote in one post.
Psychologist Dr. Steven Sternlof, who has not treated Green personally, said he could see the warning signs. The suspect actually labeled himself "mentally unstable" on Facebook.
Dr. Sternlof said Green appears obviously troubled, and perhaps frustration over his troubles built up to a point where he felt he had no other options.
Sternlof added that people who develop obsessions with celebrities, often may think that person is in love with them, and "may need to stop others that are interfering in that relationship".
The doctor also warned that if you notice "obsessive tendencies" in someone, in person or on social media, you need to get them help.
Selena Gomez, who's currently on tour, hasn’t addressed the tragedy.
